Initiation: Part 1 - Connect with Ancient Spiritual Healing Traditions

Embark on a transformative 6-week journey into the heart of Ecuadorian shamanism, or curanderismo. Led by the traditional healer, Taita Miguel, who has been working with plant medicines for nearly 30 years, along with his partner and plant medicine apprentice, Katie, who has been holding space in ceremony for 6 years, and has worked with Miguel as well as other indigenous healers in Ecuador. In this course we will guide you through the sacred teachings of the Andes and Amazon, offering a profound exploration of spiritual healing, energy protection, and the wisdom of the sacred plants. 

This course we will be the foundation for future Shamanic + Spiritual Practice courses.

  • Shamanic Cosmovision: Understand the worldview of the Andes and Amazon and how it connects to the natural and spiritual worlds.

  • Sacred Plants: Deepen your knowledge of the sacred plants—Ayahuasca, San Pedro, Wilka, Tobacco—and their role in spiritual and healing practices.

  • Limpias (Energy Cleansings): Learn about powerful energy-cleansing rituals to remove blockages and restore balance. Learn how to cleanse yourself, friends, family and clients. 

  • Ceremonial Traditions: Understand the significance of Grandfather Fire and various types of ceremonies, as well as understanding the visions and experiences we might have in ceremony.

  • Icaros - Sacred Prayer-Songs: Discover the power of sound and learn to work with sacred songs for your own healing practice. Learn 2 songs that were channeled by us in ceremony, personally, for various healing benefits and to call on friendly spirits. Learn the words, meaning, and how to properly work with them, as well as receiving the blessing to utilize them yourself.

  • Energy Protection: Learn how to protect your energy and create a safe space for healing and spiritual work for others. 

  • Creating Your Altar: Learn the sacred practice of building an altar to connect with the spiritual realm.

Schedule:

Week 1:

The first week we will teach about traditional beliefs and practices in Ecuador. Learn about the cosmovision of the Andes and Amazon, the role of a yachak/curandero (shaman), communication with the spirits of nature, the nature of illness and health from a shamanic lens, the altar, and other important facets of curanderismo in Ecuador

Week 2:

This week we will talk about energy and spirits. We will talk about the traditional practice of limpias, or energy cleansings, for yourself, home, and clients. We will share about connecting with your spiritual allies for assistance in limpias and protection, how to feel into the energy of another person to assess where they may have physical, mental and energetic issues, how to perform a limpia, and what tools to work with.

Week 3:

This week we will continue learning about energy and energy cleansing and we will perform a limpia individually for each student. Students will also practice with one another. We will talk about plant baths and special herbs you can use to create a purifying energy cleansing bath, and you will be able to practice this on your own. We will discuss the power of Grandfather Tobacco today as well, and his role in ceremony and cleansing. 

Week 4:

Today we will talk about ceremonies, how ceremonies and rituals work for healing, and other sacred plants such as Ayahuasca, San Pedro, Wilka, and Mushrooms. We will share about how one communicates with spirits in ceremony and moves energy for healing. We will talk about Grandfather Fire and his role in ceremonies.

Week 5:

This week we will share about icaros, or sacred prayer-songs. We will talk about how sound and vibration functions along with intention, how these songs work to heal, move energies, and call on spiritual allies to assist in a ceremony or ritual. We will teach 1 icaro today, sharing the meaning, lyrics and translation.

Week 6:

Today we will teach another icaro for you to utilize in your own healing practice. We will also finish this class with a special ritual to connect with the elements and Pachamama. 

In each of the classes, you will have time to ask questions and discuss a bit as well, and we will have assignments for you to do on your own. We will have the WhatsApp group open for questions and for you to share what you're working on.

  • All meetings will be recorded, so you can watch them at your convenience.

Do I need previous experience with shamanism?

  • No experience is required. This course is open to anyone ready to dive deep into the shamanic path, whether you are new or experienced. You do not have to be interested in working with plant medicines, either.

Will I be able to utilize these teachings for my own healing practice?

  • Yes, you will have the blessing to utilize the teachings, perform limpias and work with the songs we share in this course for your own practice. 

Is there a certificate?

  • This is a spiritual and educational course, and while we do not offer certifications, you will leave with deep wisdom and practical tools that will guide your path forward.
